Google Chrome and Gmail Tweaks Galore!

Well the other day I ran across a thread on the Kindle Discussion Board on Amazon’s website and it was from a user who made a interface to login to GMAIL and have it display very simple, text only for easier reading email on one’s Kindle. Well today I was searching for info on maybe making something similar, IF I could find instructiosn etc. Well I came across a website userstyles.org and came across a script someone made that makes the login page for Gmail look like a MAC type of login, see it here: http://userstyles.org/styles/38597 and then I found this one too, makes it look like Gmail still but clean http://userstyles.org/styles/38556 and if you search you will find many more tweaks etc.

Well from there I was really into seeing what more I could tweak, I used to have my laptop running XP and Vista and my dekstop tweaked with a custom boot screen, and login screen, the only thing I miss since getting Windows 7 is that… anyways while searching I looked at Google Chrome’s Extantion website and I found one that installs ScribeFire and it lets bloggers post blog posts instantly opening a typing window, see that one here ScribeFire. While your there check all the other extentions out to tweak out your Google User experience.

Blog Catalog & Google Friend Connect

Ok well first off I joined BlogCatalog to maybe get some readers who comment, and also to get back into the world of commenting myself. I follow sort of the big tech news blogs, news sites, etc, but not personal blogs, not in a long time. I thought it was time I did get back to regular people, and maybe find some blogs I enjoy reading. If you a Blog Catalog member leave me a comment, I’ll come visit you! If your non a Blog Catalog member leave a comment anyways lol!

Well after joining the above I decided to add the Google Friend Connect widget to my site… just one issue… it was not working. I tried about 2 different wordpress plugins and the code from Google’s Friend Connect page as well, no luck with either 3. I then decided too google for the answer, and came across this page, that says to add this to a version of something not sure if its a theme or something else… well I copied the code and decided to toss it in my TEXT box widget that holds my GFC Widget code from Google and it worked. So if you’re having issues where its not loading, try adding this code above your widget code.

After that hopefully your widget works for you!

Change your Android powered phone’s font.

I updated my Android Files page with a font pack that contains all the fonts you see on the page. I will be adding more to the pack all the time so please check back. To use the pack you need to use the Metamoph application, it is available in the Market, get the free version. As always make backups just in case something goes wrong, and if something does I am not responsible for any problems that may occur. Here is an example of my phone using the Beyond Wonderland font. See more examples in my Android Files page.

“Girly Phones”

I was reading up on Anrdoid news as I often do, and came across this article >AndroidGals: Where are the Girlie Android Phones?< over at the Androidguys.com website. This article annoyed me because one I think it makes women look bad, and two… one is enough. This article makes women look dumb and foolish. To quote a comment made from ‘Nonymouse’:

As a female owner of the Nexus One… no. I spit on the “girly phones”, because the vast majority of them look effing tacky. Cheap. Awful. Tasteless. Not to mention that most of them have terrible specs. Give me that Snapdragon chip, that easily unlocked bootloader, and a bevy of developers so I’ll have a range of custom ROMs to flash. And fuck the pink and purple plastic: I want class; I want something that feels good in my hand, not a plastic piece of crap that looks like it’d go with a Barbie set.Speak for yourself if you want, but please don’t presume to speak for other women. “What us girls want in a phone” makes you sound vapid and gives me secondhand embarrassment. Just because your taste runs toward godawful tacky Barbie-esque pieces of crap doesn’t mean every other woman’s does, too. GTFO.

The author of the article states she would prefer a phone that essentially is a Blackberry. Why get an Android phone when you want a Blackberry, don’t expect a Android phone to be a Blackberry because it’s not and hopefully never becomes anything like the Blackberry which I think is one of the worst phones ever made. The author talks about nails and generalizes women making us look like we’re all plastic barbies that want a girl looking phone and would sacrifice quality and functionality for pretty things we can use that wont mess our nails up.

Now listen here, write whatever you want, and express your feelings but do not DO NOT say you speak for all women. You do not. You may speak for those with long fake nails and bimbo makeup, or what a barbie doll life, but you do not speak for all women. The author then states she would like to be in a focus group for HTC and that she could teach them a thing or two, no you could not. Women like me hope that women like you are never in a focus group.

GOOGLE OS!!

I for one will load this onto my notebook and possible desktop as soon as a beta is out!!

YES! If we can do away with M$, and Apple whom are BOTH greedy bastards, that would be awesome.

Gmail has THEMES!! Now for Google Apps mail!

So I had really liked the themes Google added, but felt like they had to make it so we can make our own themes, colors etc, AND make it enabled for mail you get using Google Apps with your own domain.

WELL so far they’ve at least added THEMES ability to your own domain, through google apps which they did not before. First time I noticed it, so not sure if its been like this for a while but glad it is now.

Gmail Themes

Ok so not only can I customize my boot screen, and my login screen, I can now customize my GMAIL!!! WOO HOO!! If you don’t got it yet, it will take a few days maybe for it to be rolled out to all GMAIL users. HOWEVER Gmail App users will not get themes, damn it. So if you manage your domain with Google, and use your own name@yourdomain.com with GMAIL, you cannot use themes with it. So you can just forward your domain email to another real gmail, problem solved. Create a filter to filter your domain email when it is received to your real gmail.

Theme I am currently using… Graffiti. Next theme I will be using? The Green one that reminds you of the Matrix.

Chat w/ me when I am online!

I added this chat badge, over in the navigation side. If I am online it will display MSG Me, if I am offline it will say, Offline. You do not need to have a Google Talk id, at least I don’t think.

Ever thought of naming your kid Google?

I adore everything Google related. Yahoo and MSN who??

Anyways, I was checking out the Google Official Blog, ran by Google workers. And there was a post about a letter they received from a man named Kai.

Who had a son, they named Oliver Google Kai. Check out the kids website here

That’s cool… weird, but cool.
