22/06: Chapter 21
Chapter 21
“We’ll be back sometime tomorrow,” Jonathan told Martha as he loaded the truck with the produce he had to deliver.
“You just get back here before mother’s day,” Martha told him, “or it wouldn’t be much of a mother’s day without you,” Martha went and gave Jonathan a kiss.
“We’ll it’s the 2nd, if everything goes as its suppose to, as Bo has it planned out, we should be back tomorrow,” Luke said putting some things on the truck as well, “we’ll call in… you let us know if there’s any change in the boys,” Luke added.
“We will,” Martha said.
“You two be safe now,” Daisy said giving Jonathan a hug, and Luke a hug.
“Goodbye,” they said, and got into the truck, and took off. It was about 6am. Clark watched from the living room window as the truck drove off. He had a plan. His dad needed to loosen up, sometime away not to think of Bo, and Luke needed some clearing of his head as well. So Clark the night before, after having his talk with his dad, he got into the truck, and looked at the map his dad had routed out. Clark made a copy, and then looked up and did some research to see what kind of places there was on the way. To Clark’s disappointment practically nothing, except one thing. And that one thing would have to do. There was a motel there as well, so at least they could sleep there too.
Jonathan drove the first 2 hours, and then Luke woke up and took the wheel, letting Jonathan get a few hours of sleep as well.
Luke drove for about 3 hrs, they hadn’t stopped anywhere except at a rest stop to use the bathroom, and to get something to eat.
It was about 12:30pm, and Jonathan was driving again.
“Bo I overheard you and Clark yesterday… I was going to ask you something, but I heard you two talking, not all of it, but some of it… “ Luke told him.
“What did you hear?” Jonathan asked.
“Just that Clark had gone to the hospital, and talked with Bo, but I didn’t want to ease drop so I went back to the house,” Luke replied.
“He caused Bo’s outburst,” Jonathan told him.
“What did he do?” Luke asked.
“He told Bo what John did, and why,” Jonathan answered.
“About if Luke…” Luke couldn’t say it.
“Yes… he said he knew he shouldn’t have, but he wasn’t sorry about it, that he was sorry he didn’t like Bo, because he knew I would like it, but that he cant, he doesn’t,” Jonathan replied.
“Things are so out of hand Bo,” Luke said, “when we came here, I never imagined anything like this would happen… I thought we’d come, give you what Uncle Jesse wanted you to have, the boys show up, and leave by the end of the week.”
“Didn’t plan on us forgiving one another cousin,” Jonathan chimed in.
“Yeah, you can say that. More so, I thought once you found out about Bo, you’d throw us right out for what we did,” Luke said.
“Let’s not get into that. We already said, and did what we needed to do,” Jonathan said.
“Yeah… I remember,” Luke said touching his face as he remembered. Jonathan had punched him repeatedly, and he had in his mind deserved it.
It was now 6pm, they had already dropped off the delivery, and were headed back. They decided not to sleep and take turns driving on the way back.
“I’ll drive, and when I seem to get tired I’ll wake you up,” Jonathan told Luke.
“Alright, and don’t wait until your ready to pass out Bo, tell me before your about to fall asleep,” Luke said.
“I did that ONE time and you never forgot,” Jonathan replied.
So that’s what they did, they drove for about 3 hrs, and Jonathan was starting to get tired. It was about 11, they had taken a stop for lunch, so that took up some time.
Jonathan was going to wait until it was exactly 11 before waking Luke up. It was 10:48.

Meanwhile back at the house…
“Clark,” Jesse walked into the barn.
“Yeah?” Jesse asked, “your mom called, she said your dad called earlier and said they were going to drive straight back. Taking turns driving,” he added.
“They are?” Clark didn’t like that. He would have to start his plan tonight, instead of tomorrow, “ok, hey, there’s a red notebook in my room, think you can get it for me?” Clark asked.
“Yeah sure, I’ll be right back,” Jesse said leaving.
Clark then grabbed his map, walked out, made sure no one was around and took off. He was headed to wherever his dad might be. He ran, and stopped occasionally to look at the map. He caught up to them in no time. He whizzed right by his dad’s driver side window and Jonathan noticed that blur and swerved, waking Luke up.
“Bo!” Luke said as he straightened up, “I told you! Wake me up BEFORE you start to fall asleep.”
Jonathan hit the breaks and stopped, “I wasn’t falling asleep, and there was something in the road…” Jonathan said looking around for Clark.
Then all of a sudden 2 loud POP noises were heard.
“What was that?” Luke said.
“I don’t know,” Jonathan answered as they got out of the truck. Both back tires had blown out. Jonathan looked up in time to see Clark standing there before he took off hoping that he hadn’t been seen.
“How do you think that happened?” Luke asked.
“I don’t know… we only got one spare… we’re gonna have to sleep here over night…” Jonathan said as they looked around.
“At least this happened in front of somewhere we could sleep. Clark had found them, but waited until they got to where he wanted them to be. In front of Bob’s Bar, Grill, and Chill. A Bar / Grill, and a Motel.
“Let’s push the truck out of the way, and get to a phone,” Jonathan said.

Back at the house…
“Clark?” Jesse walked up to the loft. Clark wasn’t there, Jesse turned around and headed back down. He was just outside of the barn when he saw Clark walking up to him.
“Hey… I heard a noise, went to go check to see what it was,” Clark said.
“Where you running?” Jesse asked.
“No, why?” Clark said with his smile that says, *I am lying, so lets get off the subject* smile.
“Just looks like you were… well here is the notebook, took me a few minutes to find it,” Jesse said, “but I wanted to ask you something else,” Jesse added.
“What?” Clark asked.
“Who is this?” Jesse gave him a picture frame with Lana’s picture in it.
“An ex girlfriend,” Clark said not wanting to think about all that. Lana was in Europe, and he was doing a good job of not thinking about ‘them.’
“Ex? Who broke it off?” Jesse asked.
“I did,” Clark replied.
“Idiot,” Jesse grinned. Clark smiled back.
“We’ll be back sometime tomorrow,” Jonathan told Martha as he loaded the truck with the produce he had to deliver.
