22/06: Chapter 22
Chapter 22
“Clark!” Martha called from his room, as that’s where she was sleeping while Luke, Daisy, and the boys where there. Clark hadn’t wanted to go see what she wanted, because just before she called him, the phone had rang. He knew who it would be.
Clark walked into the room, and his mom shut the door behind him.
“Clark… did you run to where your father was? And destroy 2 of the trucks tires??” she asked, Clark didn’t answer, “answer me.”
“Yes… BUT I had a good reason,” Clark said.
“Well you tell it to your father first,” she handed the phone to Clark.
“Hello…”
“Son…” Jonathan sighed, “do you want to tell me what in the world were you thinking?” he raised his voice.
“I’m sorry dad, but I had to do it,” Clark said.
“WHY?” Jonathan asked.
“You need more then a day away from here, and not just driving, and getting tired. You need at least a day with nothing but relaxing, you and Luke both. With everything that’s been going on… I’m not sorry dad, I take the sorry back, I did this because you need a break,” he handed the phone to his mom and walked out.
“Jonathan?” Martha said into the phone.
“Where did he go?” Jonathan asked.
“He walked out,” Martha answered.
“I can’t believe he did this, what if Luke had seen him?” Jonathan began, “I know, I *know* this is hard on him, but enough is enough. We can’t keep letting him get away with things just because of what is going on,” Jonathan said, “when I get back, I’m going to handle this once and for all.”
“He is just trying to help you,” Martha said.
“I know, but this has to stop… We’ll try and be home by tomorrow. By morning Mother’s day the latest, I promise,” Jonathan said.
“Its ok Jonathan, you take your time,” Martha told him.
“I promise, I will be there for mother’s day Martha,” Jonathan told her.
“Ok,” Martha said. They said their goodbyes, and hung up.

Jonathan and Luke had pushed the truck into the Motel’s parking lot. They then checked into a room, and were at the Bar & Grill getting a late dinner.
“I talked to the bartender and he gave me a number to a Tire shop, we can call in the morning,” Luke told Jonathan as he sat down at the table, “you call home?” he asked.
“Yes, no change. Bo’s still being restrained for the safety of the staff,” Jonathan laughed. He hadn’t laughed in a long time.
“Yeah, that boy… he’s a lot like you, you know,” Luke told him. The waitress brought over 2 beers in glasses.
“What was he like when he was younger?” Jonathan asked.
“He’s always been short tempered, just like his dad was,” Luke laughed, “always first to jump, and ask questions later.”
“I’m not like that anymore,” Jonathan informed him.
“Yeah, I see that,” Luke said, “you’ve done good cousin, a good family, a nice home, still hard working… well not still… more like now your hard working, back then work was the last thing you ever wanted to do.”
“Hey I worked!” Jonathan said taking a drink of his beer.
“On a tan, and on your sad sorry pick up lines,” Luke laughed.
“My lines as you so well put it, were if I do say so myself were genius,” Jonathan now said acting as if he was still 18 and back in Hazzard, “you remember Jill Dodson? She tried acting like she had no feelings for me, until I won her over with my lines,” Jonathan added.
“And every other girl you suckered in it seems every week there was someone different,” Luke laughed taking a drink.
“Excuse me! It wasn’t my fault you were so dang picky when it came to girls,” Jonathan said, “besides, it wasn’t my fault the woman of Hazzard couldn’t resist me,” Jonathan took a drink before adding, “and don’t you dare mention any of this to Martha.”
“I’ll be right back,” Luke laughed getting up to go to the bathroom, when he accidentally bumped into a much… much… much bigger guy and made him spill his drink all over himself.
“Uh… hey there fella, I am sorry, it was an accident,” Luke said grabbing a napkin and trying to wipe off the beer, with his same smile he always had when he got caught in an accidental confrontation.
The man, whom people were calling, Grizzly… if you saw him, you would know why… grabbed Luke by his shirt and lifted him up into the air.
“My momma made me this shirt, and you done ruined it,” he said.
“Honestly, accident, your momma seems like a fine shirt maker,” Luke said right before Grizzly slammed him down through the table Luke and Jonathan were sitting at.
“Hey! Leave him alone,” Jonathan went over and punched Grizzly in the stomach… “ow.”
Grizzly didn’t feel much of anything, but Jonathan sure did, he felt the bar that he was thrown into by Grizzly. Grizzly walked over to him.
“Now you got me angry,” Grizzly.
“And you weren’t before?” Jonathan said.
“I’m coming Bo!” Luke picked up a chair and smashed it onto Grizzly’s back just as he was about to pick up Jonathan. Grizzly turned and looked at Luke, “uh oh.”
Grizzly grabbed Jonathan and threw him at Luke.
“Get off me Bo,” Luke said.
“Gladly,” Jonathan replied getting up, and then suddenly being lifted into the air by Grizzly.
“Put him down!” Luke hollered.
“NO… don’t put me down!” Jonathan shouted.
Grizzly threw Jonathan again into Luke.
“Thanks,” Jonathan said to Luke as he rolled off him onto the floor.
“Think nothing of it cuz,” Luke replied. They started to get back up, both of their backs to Grizzly when all of a sudden there was a sudden gust of wind, and Grizzly was tossed clear across the room landing into the jukebox. Everyone ran and went over to see how he was. Jonathan looked around and saw Clark by the backdoor, then he took off.
“Come on Luke, I think we best get going,” Jonathan said. They tossed some money on what use to be the table, and took off before Grizzly came to.
“What in the world was that?” Luke wondered.
“I don’t know, but lets not question a good thing,” Jonathan said knowing exactly what that was. It was his son running into the bar and slamming Grizzly into the jukebox.
Clark had gone back to see what his dad and Luke were up to. And saw the whole thing going on with Grizzly, and after letting his dad and Luke get a bit of a workout, decided enough was enough, and took care of it. Jonathan was glad Clark happened to be there, but in a way, he wasn’t. He aside from being beaten up, hadn’t felt that… spark if you want to call it, since he left Hazzard. He was actually having fun.
Jonathan and Luke went back to their rented motel room, and decided to call it a night.
“I never could go anywhere with you cousin without gettin’ into a fight,” Luke said lying on his bed. They had a 2 twin bed room.
“I didn’t start it, you had to ruin Grizzly’s momma’s made shirt,” Jonathan reminded.
“Oh shut up,” Luke said.
“Gladly…” Jonathan grinned, “goodnight.”
“Goodnight,” Luke replied.
“Clark!” Martha called from his room, as that’s where she was sleeping while Luke, Daisy, and the boys where there. Clark hadn’t wanted to go see what she wanted, because just before she called him, the phone had rang. He knew who it would be.
