Chapter 19 – Remember What You Told Me
posted @ 19:20 in [ Chapter 19 ]

Jonathan ran into the hospital, even though his leg was still healing from that bullet graze when Bo showed up, and from the fall. None of that mattered at the moment. All he could think about was Martha. When he ran into Martha’s hospital room, the doctor was standing over her, keeping her face out of Jonathan’s eyesight.

“Martha,” he said.

The doctor then stood up straight, and turned around, still blocking Martha from Jonathan’s eyesight.

“Mr. Kent, I had informed you that while your wife’s fever was up, there was nothing we could do,” the doctor told him, then moved out of the way.

Jonathan moved quickly to Martha’s bedside pulling her into a hug.

“Jonathan,” the doctor said.

He wouldn’t let Martha go; the doctor walked up and put his hand on Jonathan’s back.

Meanwhile in the hospital waiting room Luke waited for word on Bo, with John, Luke*, and Jesse.

“What did they say about his wife?” Luke* asked his dad.

“The doctor didn’t say, just that he needed Jonathan in Martha’s room immediately,” Luke replied.

“How long is Bo* gonna be in surgery, why wont they come out and tell us anything,” John was getting frustrated.

“I can’t believe Rodney and Lewis did this,” Luke* said.

“Bo’s* done a lot of things that he’s going to have to pay for while being off his meds,” Jesse said, “let’s just hope there isn’t anything worse then this.”

“It’s not Bo’s* fault that those two idiots shot him!” John said angrily to Jesse.

“Boys, not here, we don’t need to draw any attention to us,” Luke told them, “and John, Jesse’s right, but I’m not saying what Rodney and Lewis did wasn’t stupid, even thinking the gun wasn’t loaded. There are a lot of people to blame for this, but lets not start to point fingers now, because if we do, we can start pointing them at ourselves,” he added as he stood up and headed outside for a breather.

John, Luke*, and Jesse looked at one another… they knew Bo* better they anyone. How could they not realize Bo* was acting so much out of it, even with the pressure of meeting Jonathan, they should have seen it. Should have known that the way he was acting was wrong, seriously wrong. Luke was right, and it was time they faced it.

Luke walked out of the hospital and decided to go for a drive. He couldn’t just sit there and wait while Bo’s* was being operated on. He left, and headed back to the farm in John and Jesse’s car.
When he pulled up he saw Clark standing up in his loft starring out the big open door windows. Clark saw him and walked out of view.

“Clark,” Luke called as he got out of the car. Clark didn’t answer. Luke walked into the barn, and headed up the stairs to where Clark was. He found Clark sitting on his sofa.

“Please leave me alone,” Clark told him.

“Your dad really could use you right now,” Luke told him.

“Since when do you care about what my dad needs,” Clark replied, “he needed you to forgive him, even thought I don’t think he had anything to be sorry for, and you ran back to your town faster then Bo* drives that car,” Clark said referring to the General.

“Your right, your father has nothing to be sorry about, nothing he needs forgiveness for,” Luke told him, “I had to figure that out on my own, in my own time.”

“Well that’s good for you, but please leave me alone,” Clark said getting up from the couch and walking back to the open door window.

“You remember what you told me…” Luke walked over to him, “you told me he was happy around me, and I was happy around him, why complicate things.”

“It’s not the same, you didn’t try and kill my dad,” Clark looked at him.

“You and Bo* are both scared of each other, scared you like each other… would it be so bad to have a brother,” Luke asked him, “couldn’t you accept it wasn’t the real Bo*… not really, who did all that.”

Clark thought about it, and remember how he acted under the influence of Red K… could he really hold Bo* accountable when Clark’s done the very same thing, in the sense of being someone else due to something beyond his control.

“Are you going back to the hospital?” Clark asked.

“Yeah… come on, I’ll give you a ride…” Luke smiled, “even though you could get there before me.”

Clark smiled back, and he and Luke headed back out to the car to return to the hospital. It had now been about 45 minutes since Bo* went into surgery, there had to be some news now… and some news on Martha’s condition. Luke didn’t want to mention to Clark that something was going on with his mother… he thought it best… just incase it was bad news, that Jonathan be the one to tell him.

When they pulled up to the hospital Luke noticed John outside, and when John saw him, he went back in.

“Where’s my dad?” Clark asked the boys as he and Luke walked up to them.

“We don’t know, haven’t seen him since he went to your mom’s room when the doctor called for him,” Jesse replied.

Clark ran, normal speed, but wanted to go as fast as he could, to his mother’s room and opened the door.

Jonathan looked up towards the door, holding Martha’s hands with tears in his eyes.
