No yelling, no shouting, no fighting for a brief heart wrenching second.
Clark moved back away from Bo* looking into Bo’s* eyes, Bo* looking into Clark’s eyes, until he fell back onto the ground, the gun slipping out of his hand... discharging another shot as it hit the ground.
BANG!
The gun had gone off twice now, the first shot hitting Bo* in the right side. Clark moved closer to Bo* when he saw his dad lying on the ground.
“Dad!” Clark left Bo* and ran to Jonathan.
“I’ll be alright Clark, it just grazed my leg,” Jonathan said.
“Jonathan!” Martha said running to his side, she had heard the second shot, but not the first, she had, had the garbage disposal on, and standing so near it, it drained out the gunshot.
“I’m fine,” he said, then realized, “Bo!”
“What?” Martha hadn’t seen Bo*; she turned and saw Bo* shot lying on the ground.
“Oh my god,” Martha went over to him.
“I’m sorry,” Bo* told her, “I… didn’t…mean to… I just… I…” he passed out.
“Clark get him to the couch inside the house,” Jonathan told him.
“Jonathan he needs a doctor fast,” Martha said.
“I know, Clark help me to the truck first, then get Bo* inside,” Jonathan told him. And Clark did. Jonathan drove out fast watching Clark carry Bo* inside through the rear view mirror. He was about to do something he NEVER imagined himself doing.
He pulled up to the Luthor Mansion, parked and forced his way inside, not wanting to waste time getting past guards.
Lex heard the commotion, as he was about to check as to what it was, Jonathan burst into the Study, with guards on each arm trying to pull him back.
“Call your hounds off,” Jonathan said.
“Let him go, get out of here,” Lex ordered going over to Jonathan to help him to the sofa.
“No, I’ll be fine,” Jonathan said.
“What happened? Did they…” Lex suddenly thought his guards had taken a shot at him.
“No… I need to ask you for a favor,” Jonathan said. Lex was taken back a moment by Jonathan Kent asking him, Lex Luthor for a favor.
“Whatever you need,” Lex said.
“A doctor out to my farm right now,” Jonathan said, “my son’s been shot.”
“Clark’s been shot?? I’ll get the chopper, we can have him at Metropolis Medical…”
“No. Not Clark, Bo*…” Jonathan said.
“Bo… I remember him well, then we can get him to Metro…”
“No, a doctor to the house, right now Lex,” Jonathan said getting himself up from the sofa, and looking at Lex straight in the eyes.
“I just got to make a call,” Lex said.
“Thank you,” Jonathan said walking out of the room back out to the truck.
Lex made a call to a doctor living just on the skirts of Smallville. Best doctor in Metropolis, he likes to live outside of the city, so he bought a home on the edge of Smallville where he could relax when not at work.
Within 20 minutes Lex had sent the chopper to get him, and was landing out in the Kent’s field.
“How did this happen?” the doctor asked.
“Doctor I’m paying you amply enough not to ask questions,” Lex reminded him.
“It was an accident out in the barn,” Martha answered.
“Get me some boiling water,” the doctor told them. Martha went right away to get it.
After about 45 minutes, the doctor came into the Kitchen were everyone was waiting.
“How is he?” Martha asked.
“The bullet didn’t hit any major arteries. I got the bullet out, and cleaned his wound as well as stopped the bleeding. I’ve bandaged him up, and he’ll need his gauze changed and cleaned twice a day. Once in the morning, and once in the evening,” the doctor told them, “he needs to be kept in bed for a few days, I’ll come by end of the week to check on him, who’s room did you move him to before I got here?”
“Clark’s room,” Jonathan said.
“Well Clark, your going to have to sleep on the sofa,” the doctor said, “everything connected to him, is the same as if he’d be in a hospital, the computer in there needs to be moved, or not turned on, it could mess with the machines, probably wouldn’t do any harm, but just to be safe,” he added, “I’ve left instructions on the night stand by the bed, and with everything you will need to do the cleaning,” the doctor said, “my number as well.”
“Thank you,” Jonathan said.
“Yes doctor thank you, if you go out to the helicopter, I’ll be with you shortly to escort you home,” Lex said. The doctor got his bag and headed out.
“Thank you,” Martha told Lex.
“I plan to pay you back what you had to pay the doctor Lex,” Jonathan said.
“That’s alright Mr. Kent, what’s money if you can’t help friends,” Lex said.
“I will pay you back,” Jonathan told him.
“Mr. Kent I refuse to take money from you, when you came to my home you asked not for a loan, but a favor, so I now ask you, when I need a favor, will you be there?” Lex asked.
Jonathan understood, and nodded, “thank you.”
“I hope everything gets better, Clark, you’ll give me a call tomorrow, I think its time to get the good doctor home,” Lex said before leaving the kitchen and heading out to the helicopter.
